Joanne L. Reid, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed from this life on the afternoon of Saturday, January 31, 2026. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at First Methodist Church in Altus.

Born on July 12, 1933, to Clair and Thelma (Brooks) Barnum in Unadilla, Michigan, Joanne was one of three girls blessed with built-in lifelong friends. After graduating high school, she married Robert Bruce “Bob” Reid, on October 30, 1963, in Unadilla. Together they shared 54 devoted years of marriage before Bob’s passing in 2018.

Though Michigan always held a special place in her heart, Joanne and Bob embarked on an adventure through his career in the United States Air Force. That journey ultimately brought them to Altus, where they made their home and raised their daughters, Karrie and Reenie.

Following her retirement from the Jackson County Courthouse, Joanne devoted countless hours to serving others. She volunteered for many years as a “Pink Lady” at Jackson County Memorial Hospital and remained actively involved with the United Methodist Women. Joanne faithfully helped keep area Blessing Boxes filled and delivered Meals on Wheels packets, quietly serving her community with compassion and grace.

Her generous spirit, steadfast faith, and the legacy of a devoted mother and grandmother will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed by her kindness.

She is survived by her daughters, Karrie Paine and husband, Wray and Reenie Schulz and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Caleb Paine and wife, Caitlynn, Austin Paine and wife, Brecke, Michael Paine, Ben Schulz and wife, Emily, Abby Thornton and husband, Colton; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and soon to be Caroline Paine, Shepherd and Lily Paine, Ike and Max Schulz, Tillman, Ellie, Jake, and soon to be baby boy Thornton; nieces and nephews, Karen, Don, Marie, Craig, and Carol; and many other relatives, friends, and church family.

Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; parents, Clair and Thelma; and sisters, Gerri Sullivan and Betty Pickett.
