Jose Everado "Eddie" Lopez

May 28, 1937 — February 3, 2023

Jose Everado “Eddie” Lopez, 85, Altus, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Alex Casias officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will host a rosary on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 6:00 PM in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel.

Jose Everado “Eddie” Lopez was born on May 28, 1937 at Fort McKavett, Texas to Rosendo and Paula (Hernandez) Lopez. Eddie met Frances Ortega and they were later married on June 17, 1961 in Mangum, Oklahoma. The two later made their home in Altus when Eddie began his first job, filling missile silos with concrete with his brothers and brothers-in-law. He then moved on to the oilfields and other numerous jobs including George C. Wright Lumber, SS Supply and Rounds and Porter. Eddie retired in 1988 but continued to work at the First United Methodist Church and the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Eddie enjoyed spending time at the lake cabin, especially on the 4th of July with his family and friends. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and “boxing” in front of the television. Eddie, most of all, loved being the best Popo to his grandchildren and the best father-in-law that a girl could ask for.

His parents, three brothers, Henry, Lupe and Lorenzo, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Frances, of the home; three sons, Paul Lopez and wife, Norma, Ruben Lopez, and Hector Lopez; a son, Eddie; 7 grandchildren, Aaron Schaffer, Amanda Schaffer, Thomas Lopez and wife, Shelby, Vanessa Lopez, Adam Lopez, Ben Lopez, and Erica Lopez; ten great grandchildren, Jovanni, Jasper, Scarlett, Monroe, Hayden, Kylea, Alexis, Ethan, Graeme, and Beau; two great great grandchildren, Hudson and Hadlee; a sister, Angie Yzaguirre; a brother, Joe Lopez; two sisters-in-law, Cruz Lopez and Lela Lopez; and many other family members and friends.

We will dearly miss Eddie, Dad, Popo, Brother, Tio and Friend.
