Juanita Ruth Lucas

Juanita Ruth Lucas, 83, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, OK. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Pastor Rudy Juarez and Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Juanita Ruth was born March 30, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to Floyd C. and Mamie B. Nash (Jensen) Smith. She married William Lloyd Lucas October 12, 1947 in Loma Linda, California. They lived many years in San Antonio, Texas, where Juanita was a clerk at a bank. While living in San Antonio, she enjoyed opening her home and boarding military wives while their husbands were in training and teaching children’s Sabbath School at her church. They moved to Altus and became members of the Altus Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was the church pianist and treasurer for many years. Juanita was a great cook and liked to spend time on her computer. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Esther Evans, and Dorothy Urie; and one grandson, Brent David Hammack. Juanita is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Hammack and Wilber of Duncan, Oklahoma; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill Lucas and Diana of San Marcos, Texas; four grandchildren, Sheryl Hammack and Mark D. Hammack, both of Juneau, Alaska, Russell Lucas and wife Leesa of San Marcos, Texas, and Robert Lucas of Dallas, Texas; five great grandchildren, Daniel, Jonathan and Alyson Clayton, all of Juneau, Alaska, Erin Frimpter and husband, Daniel, of San Marcos, Texas, and Allison Baker of San Marcos, Texas; two great great grandchildren, Gavin and Gwen Frimpter; three sisters, Stella Barr of Bakersfield, California, Betty Tiffee of Spokane, Washington, and Mary Hudson of San Bernardino, California; and eight nephews. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2010 at Kincannon Funeral Home.
