Katherine Elizabeth Boone

Katherine Elizabeth “Katie” Boone, 82, Altus, passed away Saturday, September 04, 2010 at the Plantation Village Nursing Home. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Apostolic Truth, 2400 E. Galaxy, with Rev. Lionel Mounce and Mickey Mounce officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Katherine was born on May 16, 1928 in Childress, Texas to Jasper Monroe and Velma (Barrett) Roller. She married David Edward Boone on September 29, 1945 in Altus, Oklahoma. He passed away on February 27, 1983. She worked as the housekeeping supervisor at the Woodruff Community Hospital in California, while taking care of the family. Katie was a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandma aka “Nana.” She loved being with her sister and friend, Della. She enjoyed babysitting kids and especially her grandkids. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She was very active in the United Pentecostal Church for many years and served as a Sunday School Teacher and as the president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She made peanut brittle for fundraisers and the best pecan pie you ever ate. She loved ice cream and her dog, Sheena. Every night she went to bed, she would switch on her little overhead lamp on her bed frame, read her bible and close her eyes to pray. She would then turn off her little lamp to put her worries to rest. Her husband, parents, two brothers, Ernest and Bill Roller, and a sister, Thelma Sue Atchley, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Davis and Grant of Fontana, California; four sons, David Allen Boone of Altus, Oklahoma, Curtis Randall Boone of Altus, Oklahoma, Roger Dale Boone and his wife, Jo, of Vici, Oklahoma, and Mark Anthony Boone of Altus, Oklahoma; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Della Mae Phillips of Mangum, Oklahoma; and an aunt, Betty Jo Veach of Mangum, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
