Obituary

Katherine Rose Gallagher was born on February 8, 1963, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Darrell Gene Hilliard and Gloria Elaine (Winters) Hilliard. Her father served in the United States Army, which led Katherine to move often during her childhood. She attended high school in Richland County, South Carolina.

Katherine later made her home in Altus, Oklahoma, where her brother Steve was stationed with the Air Force. It was there that she met the love of her life, David Gallagher. Their love story began with a playful bet—David told Katherine that if his football team won the game they were watching, she would have to marry him. Katherine lost the bet but truly won in love, as the two were united in marriage on February 10, 1992. They shared many loving years together until David’s passing in 2020.

Katherine was a devoted homemaker who found joy in creating and crafting. She loved all types of crafts and often made beautiful blankets for her family. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Katherine had a flair for style—she loved wearing elegant dresses, jewelry, and always enjoyed having her hair beautifully done. Katherine was a proud member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, deeply honoring her heritage. She was a woman of grace and beauty, inside and out.

Katherine passed from this life on February 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Hilliard; and her beloved husband, David Gallagher.

Those left to honor Katherine’s memory include her father and step-mom, Darrell and Audrey Hilliard; her daughter, Victoria Gallagher, and her partner, Felix Vasquez; her brother, Steve Hilliard, and his wife, Emma; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Gallagher, Alex Gallagher and his wife, Melanie, and Ramona Fuentes; her great-grandchildren, Jericho Gallagher, Jovie Gallagher, Aizlyn Fuentes, and Kaizdynn Fuentes; as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
