Kelly Joan Sanborn

Kelly Joan Sanborn, age 64, passed away from cancer on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. Born on March 17, 1961, in St. Albans Vermont to Arnold and Lida (Jewett) Caples, Kelly was blessed with a loving family and special friends growing up in Richford Vermont. She graduated from RHS in 1979. She went on to the Burlington area, worked at the Radisson, then spent 10 years in a factory that made all kinds of animal figurines. After that she went to college to get her degree in accounting and spent years in office jobs and office management.

Kelly was a creative artist, an animal lover, she loved puzzles, was a great cook and had a mechanical mind also. She and her husband Steve traveled the country buying old houses and turning them into homes in several states including Florida, Alabama, and New Mexico, and doing mission work including making meals for shut ins and homeless people. They had countless dinner parties and Kelly was always the perfect hostess. Kelly also got a taste of what it is like to be on call, for construction work or mission work, where you never know what to expect.

She also enjoyed running skid steers, back hoes, and excavators and was good at it.

Her life was blessed with adventures, from canoeing with dolphins in Florida to feeding wild horses in New Mexico, to their trips to Mexico and South and Central America.

Kelly was always Grounded with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Kelly is preceded in death by her father Arnold; mother, Lida; and brother Roger.

She leaves behind her husband, Steve; siblings, Cheryl and husband, Steve (Richford, VT), Martin (Anderson, IN), Lenna and Brenda (Hinsdale, NH), Chuck and wife, Lisa (Rochester, NY), and Nancy (Richford, VT); along with many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
