Obituary

Kenneth Lee Reynolds “Buster” was born on November 9, 1938, in Vinson, Oklahoma, to Henry James and Una Lela (Chambless) Reynolds. One of four sons, he was affectionately known by his family as “Buster.”

Kenneth attended school in Vinson, excelling both in the classroom and as an all-sport athlete, especially in baseball. One memorable day when, after becoming upset with a teacher, Kenneth simply walked out. He drove to Hollis and enlisted in the United States Army. While stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland as a Military Policeman, he met the stunning, Lois Combs. The couple was united in marriage on November 1, 1957, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Churchville, Maryland. Together they built a life centered on family and hard work, welcoming three children: Cindy, Robert “Bobby,” and Kenneth “George.”

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Kenneth and Lois spent time traveling with their young daughter before settling in Bel Air, Maryland, where he worked for Sinclair Oil. In the spring of 1966, the family returned to Oklahoma. Kenneth began his career as a lineman for the City of Altus and, in 1981, joined Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), where he worked until retiring in 2009.

Throughout his career, Kenneth answered the call wherever he was needed, traveling across the country to assist with power restoration efforts following major natural disasters, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as numerous ice storms and severe weather events. He was a proud and active member of IBEW Local 1002.

Kenneth had a passion for racing that became a treasured family pastime. In the early 1970s, he built his own race car, a 1959 Chevrolet Impala bearing his signature number, #57. Painted brown and white to match the family home, the car reflected both his creativity and determination. He began racing with a six-cylinder engine nicknamed “6-Shooter 283” before eventually upgrading to a powerful V-8 known as “6-Shooter + 2.” Race days were family days, with everyone involved and making memories together—even around the time of the birth of his first grandchild, Elliott Rodda.

Retirement suited Kenneth well. He enjoyed spending time “piddling” in the garage, playing solitaire, and helping his son renovate buildings and rental properties. He cherished family vacations and summer road trips, creating lasting memories on adventures to Maryland, Six Flags Over Texas, Old Mexico, Arizona, and many destinations in between. He and Lois also enjoyed traveling together to New York City and Canada, always finding joy in the journey as much as the destination.

Kenneth joined his beloved wife of 68 years, Lois, 90 short days after her passing. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert “Bobby” Reynolds; parents, Henry and Una Reynolds; brothers, Carroll Reynolds and wife, Jean and Larry Gene Reynolds; niece, Debbie Jean Reynolds; sister-in-law, Fern Reynolds; and his in-laws, George and Greathel Combs.

His memory will live on in his children, Cindy Reynolds-Lansdale and Kenneth “George” Reynolds; his brother, Arlin Reynolds, and wife Janice; cherished grandchildren, Elliott Rodda, Kenna Lea Lansdale-Porter, Tiffany Reynolds-Taylor, and Kenneth S. Reynolds; and beloved great-grandchildren, Gage and Eric Lansdale, Eli and Micah Poole, and Garrett and Madison Taylor. Kenneth also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will treasure his memory.

The family will formally greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17th. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 18th in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bruce Davis officiating. Kenneth will be laid to rest next to his true love, Lois, at the Altus City Cemetery.
