Laveda Mae Lamons, 63, lifelong resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born on April 8, 1962, in Altus, to Henry Lee Williams and Clarene Branch.
Laveda was a proud graduate of Altus High School. She later met and married George Lamons in Lawton and raised three sons, Jamario Williams, Glen Lamons, and Jamel Lamons.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, Laveda worked diligently as a medical secretary, always committed to providing for her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, and her love for bringing people together, especially around the dinner table, where she was known for her famous meatloaf and potato salad.
Laveda found joy in the simple things: playing dominoes and spades, spending time outdoors, visiting the casino, and laughing with those closest to her. She had a fierce love for football, cheering passionately for any team playing against Dallas, and a deep appreciation for Motown music. One of her favorite songs was, “Over the Rainbow”. Laveda was often seen wearing her signature color, red, a reflection of her bold and vibrant spirit.
She will be deeply missed by her friends and family, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Laveda was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Williams and Clarene Branch; brother, Gerald Williams; and her nephew, Davonte Branch.
She is survived by her sons, Jamario Williams, Glen Lamons, and Jamel Lamons. She is also survived by her siblings, Coretta Branch, Vereletta Morgan, Mona Shivers, Edward Branch, and Kenneth Branch. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Kyler, Keythen, Khelani, Jamario Jr., Maliya, Trayvion, Jakari, Kareem, and Serious.
