Leta Joyce (Shirley) Chisum, known to family and friends as Joyce, was born September 20, 1943, in Altus, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on August 7, 2026, at the age of 82.

Joyce graduated from Altus High School, Altus Junior College, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She began her teaching career teaching geometry at Altus Junior High School and later taught typing, business, and math at Altus High School. She devoted 33 years to education before retiring in May 1996. Teaching was one of her greatest loves and achievements. She took tremendous pride in her work and adored the thousands of students she taught throughout her career.

Joyce married the love of her life, Cecil Dwain Chisum, on October 29, 1965, in Humphreys, Oklahoma. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Andrew and Norma Loleta Shirley; sisters, Gail Joann Hill and Patsy Ruth Hill; and brother, Daniel Joseph Shirley.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Cecil Dwain Chisum, of the home; daughters, Natalie Sue Chisum and Beverly Carol Caskey; grandsons, Brent Andrew Caskey, Phillip Scott Caskey and wife, Amber, and Cody Dwain Risinger; and great-granddaughters, Gracelynn Joyce Caskey and Shelby Jane Caskey. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and many others she loved dearly.
