Linda Sue Cox

February 21, 1946 — August 26, 2023

On the evening of Saturday, August 26, 2023, Linda Sue Cox, 77, Altus, passed away peacefully at Magnolia Creek Nursing and Rehab into her eternal home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Usher officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the funeral home.

Linda Sue (Tinney) Cox was born on February 21, 1946 in Altus, OK to James and Nellie Faye (Drake) Tinney. They lived in Altus while her father was stationed at Altus Air Force Base and in 1950 the family made their way to Fort Worth where she grew up. This too is where she attended beauty school and graduated with a certificate of completion. Linda and Charles A. Cox married on March 10, 1971 and celebrated 46 years together until his passing in 2018. Linda was a homemaker that enjoyed cooking and baking. She especially loved baking during the holidays where she would bake for weeks and then deliver the specialty treats to their many friends. For several years she enjoyed spending her weekends visiting various nursing homes in the Altus area singing praise and worship music for the residents. She was a faithful servant of God for many years until her and her husband’s health began to decline. Time spent with her children and grandchildren is something that she cherished the most. She was very fond of dogs and nothing put a smile on her face like her dog Ringo. If you ever met Linda, you knew you were loved and you were beautiful because she made sure to say that and it was so genuine that you could feel her love. She leaves her family with a legacy of love and endless memories. Linda was a member of the Rose Assembly of God church in Mangum.

Her parents; husband; two sons, Leonard Payne and Gerry Key; a daughter, Amy Lynelle Cox; and three siblings, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Cox and wife, Tiffany, James Cox and wife, Monica, and Terry Cox and wife, Deborah; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Alice Faye Coates; and many other family members and a host of friends.
