Lucille M. Armstrong, known as Lucy to family and friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on Monday, August 17, 2026, in Altus, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 7, 1936, on the Taos Pueblo Reservation, in Taos, New Mexico to Benito and Tonita (Lucero) Lujan. Lucy graduated high school from Lincoln High in Santa Fe.

Lucy met the love of her life, William (Bill) Armstrong, while working as a waitress in Santa Fe. Bill told everyone it was love at first sight. Lucy and Bill married on March 8. 1958, in Albuquerque and remained happily married for the next 68 years. The couple had three children during this time, William “Willy”, Roxane, and Jason. They moved multiple times during Bill's 27 years of serving in the United States Air Force and made a loving home for the family in each place they lived. Lucy met friends throughout the years from the many places her family called home. In 1969 the family was stationed at Altus Air Force Base where they made their permanent home.

She had a love of taking care of her plants, trees, flowers, and her yard. Lucy also loved to go to the casinos with Bill. She was known to win on numerous occasions and rarely lost. Bowling was also a love and a passion for Lucy. She bowled for many years where she held offices, was in multiple leagues, and played in tournaments throughout her years. Lucy made many friends through her bowling leagues over the years and kept in touch through time.

Lucy also loved football. The Dallas Cowboys were a favorite of hers as well as the Denver Broncs. She rarely missed a game. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lucy will be missed by family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benito Lujan; her mother, Tonita Lujan; son-in-law, Billy Guthrie; as well as multiple siblings and other family members.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Armstrong; daughter, Roxane Guthrie; sons, Willy Armstrong and wife, Kathy and Jason Armstrong; grandchildren, Brandon Guthrie, Cody Guthrie, Brianna (Armstrong) Lingle and husband, Chandler, Cord Armstrong, Seth Armstrong, Tabitha Armstrong, Jamie (Armstrong) Ressler, and T.J. Self; great-grandchildren Kaycee Mae and Noah (Armstrong) Smith, Zach, Liam and Myla Armstrong, Xavier Guthrie and Braelyn Guthrie, and Charlotte and Desmond Ressler; many nieces, nephews, and other family members; and special friends, April Stobaugh and Josh Smith who were always available to help at a moment’s notice.

A Memorial Service is schedule for 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Online memorial tributes and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.

The family will host a potluck and get-together following the service at the Skate Place, located at 300 Todd Lane in Altus. All are welcome to bring a dish to share or simply come by to visit and spend time with the family.
