Altus

Marcos Salgado, of Altus, was born on September 23, 1945, in Huajintlan, Morelos, Mexico, to Francisca and Alejandro Salgado. He met the love of his life, Columba Martinez, and they were married on December 9, 1972, in Mexico City, Mexico, and they spent 53 beautiful years together. In June of 1979, Marcos immigrated to the United States, where he worked to build a better life for his family. Through his dedication and perseverance, he was able to reunite his family with him shortly thereafter.

Marcos was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he played an integral role in establishing the Spanish-speaking congregation. He loved the outdoors and had a soft spot in his heart for all animals. He especially enjoyed fishing whenever he could find the time. Marcos also had a special fondness for strawberry ice cream. He took great joy in gardening and was often found planting in the yard or working around the house. If something needed to be done, Marcos believed in doing it himself—and doing it well.

Above all, Marcos was a humble man who allowed his faith in the Lord Jehovah to guide every aspect of his life. He could quote Scripture with remarkable ease and drew great strength and comfort from the Psalms. His love for the Lord was evident in the kindness and respect he showed to everyone around him, and his unwavering faith sustained him through his final days.

Marcos went to his Heavenly home on December 22, 2025.

Marcos is preceded in death by his parents. His memory will live on in his devoted wife, Columba Salgado; his daughters, Lorena Salgado, Claudia Salgado, and Gabriela Salgado; brother, Alejandro Salgado; sister, Lucina Salgado; grandchildren, Noe Arias, Mayra Arias, and Jonas Arias; great-grandchildren, Hailyn, Marty, Sunray, Juan, and one due in May, as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
