Margene Pease

Margene Pease, 88, drew her last breath after a sudden illness and departed this life to meet her heavenly Father on February 18, 2024, in Altus, Oklahoma.  Preparation services and transportation coordination are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

MarJean Warner was born on November 25, 1935, in Fillmore, Utah.   She was the last of 10 children born to Newell and Ellen Mar (Johnson) Warner.  She grew up and attended school in Fillmore.  After graduating, she ventured out to live life away from home in California before eventually returning to Utah.  It was during this time the spelling of her name changed to Margene.   

She met her future husband, Charles Pease, at Hill AFB, Utah, and followed him to France where they were married on May 9, 1960.  They were together, on and off, for 32 years until his passing in 1992.  It was during this time they had two children, Ron and Sandy.  With Charles being in the Air Force the family moved frequently before landing back in Utah after Charles retired.

Margene loved sports, from being on the high school track team to watching her kids play or spectating at Utah Jazz games.  She also worked in a variety of occupations as a waitress, nurse aide (her absolute favorite), cosmetology, making tennis rackets, and a final tenure at St. Regis Paper in Salt Lake City.  

One of her defining traits was her love of helping others.   Her time as a nurse aide was truly rewarding for her because she was able to do what came naturally to her to help support her family.  Margene’s desire to help others never left her.  While living at Tamarack Retirement Center she had to learn the limitations of help she was allowed to give other residents.  Margene flourished while at Tamarack.  She began participating in activities she had previously shied away from, such as going on field trips with other residents, and was selected as the president of the resident’s council.  She was also the resident mail delivery person and cheerleader for all things Tamarack.  She also found time to volunteer at Jackson County Memorial Hospital working in the surgery waiting room.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Venita) Martin, Ron (Kimberly) Pease, and a daughter, Sandy Allison; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Downs, Travis Dixon, Aaron Pease, Shawn Dixon, Marty White, Aaric Pease, Scott Flom, and Kayleen Flom.  Margene was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren.  She also has many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newell and Mar Warner; husband, Charles Pease; son, Larry; and her siblings, Myrtle, Edith, Meldon, Julia, Mary, Duane, Helen, Ray, and Richard.

Margene felt she was imperfect, but she was the best daughter, sister, mom, grandma, and friend that she could be to those who knew her.

A viewing will be held, Tuesday, February 27, 12-1 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
