Margie Anne Watson was born on August 26, 1938, in McAllen, Texas to Henry E. and Ruth Anne (Snowball) Watson. One of three daughters, Margie, quickly developed a caretaker and motherly role with her sisters preparing her for a house full of seven children later in life.
Margie graduated from Greeley High School in Colorado, and soon after, she met the love of her life, Jimmie Dorn James, while he was stationed at Cheyenne Air Force Base in Wyoming. The young couple married on July 7, 1956, in Loveland, Colorado, and soon began a life of adventure together through Jimmie’s career in the United States Air Force. Their travels took them around the world—from Newfoundland, Canada to Altus, Oklahoma, with an extended assignment in Guam—before they eventually returned to Altus, where she lovingly raised their seven children. Margie later made her home in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Margie was a dedicated Avon representative for many years, building lasting friendships throughout her community. She later worked as a correctional officer at the Granite Reformatory before deciding to return to school to become a licensed beautician—a career she thoroughly enjoyed. Margie eventually retired from her beauty shop in Mangum, where she had brightened the lives of many. She delighted in spending quiet moments with a good book, and her gentle heart held a special affection for both animals and children. She expressed her creativity through beautiful embroidery and sewing. Above all, she carried a deep reverence for all living things, embracing life with kindness and compassion.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Margie peacefully passed from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
