Norma Sue (Carter) Robinson was born on April 17, 1930, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Ray Stewart “Sailor” and Ella Mae (Burch) Carter. She passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at the age of 96.

She attended school in Hollis, Oklahoma from 1st through 12th grades except for three years during the war at which time she attended junior high in Big Rapids, Michigan and in Borger, Texas. She graduated from high school in Hollis with the Class of 1948.

Sue met James Carl Robinson at the first football game of her senior year in high school. After almost a year of dating they married on July 16, 1948, in Wellington, Texas. Their wedding was a double ceremony with Carl’s brother, Calvin and his betrothed, Betty Jean. After their honeymoon they made their home in Hollis where Carl was engaged in farming.

To this union three sons were born, Gary Don, Eddie Ray, and Roger Dee. Sue was a homemaker and enjoyed raising their three boys and helping Carl on the farm wherever she was needed.

In her spare time, Sue enjoyed bridge club with several of her friends. She and Carl enjoyed going to OU football games to cheer on their Sooners and in later years doing some traveling with dear friends, Georgia and Emory Crow.

As their eight grandchildren were born, Grandma Sue and Grandaddy enjoyed all the activities that come with being grandparents. Their grandkids all loved going to their house where Grandma Sue cooked whatever they wanted and had a candy drawer that was never empty. She played endless games of Chutes and Ladders, marbles, and Go Fish. She always kept a giant coloring book and crayons and colored in the floor along with the kids. Having raised three boys of her own, she could throw a baseball or a football and even taught Shane how to throw a spiral with accuracy. She owned her own slingshot and taught the boys how to use it. When the grandchildren became active in extracurricular activities, Grandma Sue and Grandaddy were there to cheer them on. Their grandchildren were their pride and joy.

Sue’s primary love was for her Lord and Savior. She was an active member of the Frist United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative and Council boards. She also served as Communion Steward, United Methodist Chairperson, taught Sunday School, was active in the United Methodist Women, and was a Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsor.

She lived out her final years at Colonial Manor II. Sue loved those who cared for her there and considered them part of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sailor Carter and Ella Mae Sifford; stepfather, Edward Grant Sifford; husband of 50 years, James Carl Robinson; and son, Gary Don Robinson. Survivors include her two sons, Eddie Ray Robinson and wife, Janna and Roger Dee Robinson and wife, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Judy Robinson, eight grandchildren, Shane, Reid, Beth, Carter, Courtney, Jared, Jacob, and Jaimala; 13 great-grandchildren, Parker, Ella, Walker, Eucie, Madeline, Saylor, Bentlee, Lainee, Alex, Blake, Jane, Braxton, and Kalvin; her Colonial Manor II family; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, September 14th, at the First Methodist Church Hollis. Interment will immediately follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
