Paul Ellison Dodd was born on November 1, 1954, in Richwood, West Virginia to Waitman and Marian Leah (Hicks) Dodd. Paul was known for his hardworking spirit, deep love for family, and steadfast preparedness for whatever life brought his way.
Paul moved to Lawton where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1973. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably until 1980. He then dedicated most of his career to civil service with the U.S. Army, continuing a life of service and commitment to his country.
After retiring, Paul embraced the role he loved most—being a dad and a grandpa. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, especially during family cookouts filled with laughter, oldies music, and the aroma of his famous BBQ. A gifted cook and baker, Paul was just as comfortable at the stove as he was at the grill.
He was also a skilled handyman with a mind for fixing things—whether it was plumbing, flooring, or anything else around the house. At one time, he ran his own maintenance business, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t repair or improve.
Paul had a lifelong appreciation for Western stories, classic tunes, and marksmanship. A passionate firearms enthusiast, he enjoyed collecting, shooting, and teaching others about gun safety. He was also known for his readiness mindset—keeping his home well-stocked and always prepared, just in case. Paul passed away at his home in Altus on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the age of 70.
Paul is survived by his children, Kim Dodd and husband, Kendall, Amelia Dorsey and husband, Rodney, Katherine VanPelt, and Kunwoo Dodd and husband, Yang. He was a proud grandfather to Caleb, Hayden, Corbin, Jaxson, and Kyron, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Paul’s legacy is one of service, strength, and devotion. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. In honoring Paul’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial to celebrate his life and legacy. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
