Rita Jean Kistler was born on February 11, 1939, in Anglesey East, United Kingdom, to Henry and Mary Moore.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Rita met Bobby Lee Kistler at a dance, where her energetic twisting quickly captured his heart. They married soon after and moved to the United States with the Air Force, eventually arriving at Altus Air Force Base in 1975. From that time forward, Rita made Altus home and never left.
She was a very family-oriented woman who would do anything for her family. She was considered a second mother to her grandson, Colten, who she affectionately called “Colty Wolty”. She loved her grandchildren and that love extended on past blood relation, as she treated every child like they were her family. She always made sure the needs of everyone around her were met. Rita had a passion for crocheting and completed around 300 baby blankets in her lifetime that she gifted to friends and family.
Her humor was in true British form - sharp, honest, and with love. Rita spoke exactly what was on her mind, and you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She was always known to have a strong work ethic and excelled in whatever field she worked in. During her time working at the Altus Air Force Base Hospital as housekeeper, patients eagerly awaited to see who got the pleasure of spending the evening talking Rita, grateful for the uplifting humor she brought to every shift.
Those who preceded her in death include her parents; her brother; two sisters; and her two best friends, Mavis Stebbens and Vicky Moriarty.
Those left to cherish Rita’s memory include her daughter, Karen Stalcup and her husband Ed; grandchildren, Shauna LaRoque and Colten Kistler; grandchildren, Keaton, Karter, Haddon, Harrison, Beckett, River, Justuc, Seren, VedaJane, Peyton, Esme, Emma, Kayleigh, James, and Emmet; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Per Rita’s request, no services are scheduled at this time. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
