Sandra Hestand

Sandra Hestand, formerly of Olustee, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home in Edmond. She was born on December 22, 1962, in Altus, the fourth daughter of Howard and Etta Jean (Drury) Hestand. She was raised on the family farm near Olustee, where she developed a strong work ethic by helping plow wheat fields, care for animals, and complete other daily chores.

Sandra spent her childhood riding her cantankerous horse, Dolly, playing basketball, working on craft projects, and enjoying time with friends. She had a deep love for both 1980s music and gospel hymns. Her church home was the Olustee Methodist Church, where she made a profession of faith and often played the piano during services.

Sandra cherished her large, close-knit extended family. She found joy in the strum of guitars, harmonized singing, the sound of children playing, and the shared laughter that filled family gatherings.

After graduating from Olustee High School, Sandra earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma, all while working at the Oklahoma Blood Institute. She was a strong, independent woman with a heart for animals—especially dogs—and adopted several rescues throughout her life.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her three sisters: Janice Rohde and husband, Bill (Kansas City, Missouri), Barbara Pryor and husband, Jim (Olustee), and Peggy Miller and husband, Robert (Altus); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Olustee Cemetery with her nephew, Brad Pryor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in Sandra’s name to the Olustee Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 306, Olustee, OK 73560.
