Scott Wesley Garrison, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2024, at his home in Altus, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years old.
Scott was born on January 14, 1957, in Rochelle, Illinois, to Kaye (Terviel) and Ernest Garrison. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1975 and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy for four years starting in 1974. Following his military service, Scott pursued his passion for automotive mechanics and earned an associate’s degree from Kishwaukee Community College in 1980.
On September 2, 2000, Scott married the love of his life, Denise Garrison, in Creston, Illinois. They spent the last 23 years together building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Scott was a dedicated family man who adored his children and grandchildren deeply.
Scott was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, first in Creston, Illinois, and later in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he contributed his time and talents to the church community. He enjoyed the outdoors immensely and could often be found fishing or working on cars and tractors. Scott had a knack for fixing things and was always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbors with his trademark kindness and patience.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Denise; his daughters, Victoria Knack, Emily (Shaugnessy) Garvey, and Jessica Garrison whose lives he enriched beyond measure; and his granddaughters, Madeline, Rebecca and Katherine Fredendall who brought him immense joy; and finally, after waiting 62 long years he was blessed with a boy, his grandson, Rorric Liam Neil Garvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kaye and Ernest Garrison.
Honorary Pallbearers include his close friends, Walt and Chuck, his brothers-in-law, Cliff and Don, and his son-in-law, Shaugnessy, reflecting the deep bonds Scott formed throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held at Kincannon Funeral Home, 3020 N. Main Street, Altus, Oklahoma, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. Reverend Eugene Schneider of St. John's Lutheran Church of Lawton will officiate the service. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy.
