Shirley Ann Bryant passed away peacefully at her home in Altus, Oklahoma on July 16, 2025, eight short days before her 78th birthday. Lovingly known as Ann by all, she was born on July 21, 1947, in Hobart, and was the beloved daughter of M.L. and Eliza Blanche (Winters) Carroll. She was raised on the family farm near Warren, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and compassion that would guide her throughout her life.
A woman of deep Baptist faith and a servant’s heart, Ann dedicated her life to nurturing others—both in her personal life and her career. Ann highly valued education, and after earning her bachelor’s degree from Cameron University, she went on to teach at Roosevelt Elementary School for over 28 years before retiring in 2009, shaping young minds with patience, kindness, and grace.
On June 4, 1976, Ann married Richard “Rick” Bryant. Together, they shared 40 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership until Rick’s passing in 2016. She was a former member of the Victory Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Altus First Baptist where she forged friendships bound in faith.
Ann had an outgoing personality, and she was definitely one-of-a-kind. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and quiet dignity. Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Keith Huckaby and wife, Chanet of Altus and Johnny Bryant and wife, Brandi of Parrish, Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as extended family, dear friends, former students, and all who were blessed to know her. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Rick; her parents, M.L. and Eliza Carroll; her children, Trina Dickson, Cody Huckaby, and Mike Bryant; and grandson, Ryan Anthony Huckaby. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to others, and the enduring love she gave so freely. Her impact will be felt for generations to come.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 20th, at the funeral home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, July 21st, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Randy Kendrix officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
