On 14 February, 2024, Shirley Bustos, 86, left her earthly family and joined her heavenly Father. A Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Cremations arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Shirley Ann Webb was born on March 6, 1937, in Claude, Texas. The first of nine children born to Doyle Webb and Silverene Mayo Webb. She grew up in the Hollis area, attending school in Arnett and Hollis, Oklahoma.
She was the mother of five girls, Brenda Matheson Brown, Diana Matheson McGowan, Trish Matheson, Cindy Matheson Swearingen, and Leah Mayo Sugai. Her family moved from Hollis to Duke in 1968.
Shirley married Daniel Bustos on April 28, 1975. They have been together for over 50 years.
She loved attending all the school and sporting events for each of her girls and continued the tradition with her grandkids and great grandkids, until her health wouldn’t allow her to travel any more.
She was an exceptional seamstress and sewed for many family members, friends, and many things for her girls and grandkids, as they were growing up. She started the tradition of making a garter for each family member as they got married, adding special touches to each one. This was her special gift and was made with pure love.
Shirley loved to travel and made many road trips to visit her girls as they moved from the area. She took lots of road trips with her mother and sisters over the years, taking advantage of seeing as many new places as she could, including several cruise trips. Her favorite trips were to Hawaii, visiting family. Her first trip there was to celebrate her 50th birthday, traveling with her mother. She would make 4 more trips to Hawaii, with different family members, over the next 30 years. She always wanted to go “one more time”.
She had a love for the ocean and beach. She was happiest dipping her toes in the water and walking in the sand. Just soaking up the sunshine.
Shirley is survived by her husband of the home, Daniel Bustos. Her daughters, Brenda Brown, Bryson, TX; Diana McGowan, Altus, OK; Trish Matheson, Tipton, OK; Cindy (Bruce) Swearingen, Beggs, OK; and Leah Sugai, Hawaii.
