Terri Leflett Speer, our cherished wife, mother, Lolli, sister, and friend, peacefully departed on January 21, 2024, after bravely facing a three-year battle with breast cancer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, OK. Her Celebration of Life and Funeral Services will be at First Baptist Church in Altus, OK on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 PM. Graveside Services will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Terri was born on October 2, 1959, in Hobart, OK to Bill & Gloria Leflett. Terri thrived in Altus, graduating at the top of her class from Altus High School in 1978, driven by a passion for biology and science. Embarking on a nursing career, she excelled, earning her degree in 1982 from WOSC, later obtaining her Masters in Science from Midwestern University in 1990.
Terri's love of nursing belonged to the operating room where she worked for over eight years at JCMH. Her nursing journey continued to expand working in Home Health, GI Lab, Nursing Education at the Vo-Tech, and triage nursing at Altus Air Force Base.
Her high school love blossomed into a lifelong partnership with Doug Speer, culminating in marriage on May 3, 1986, at First Baptist Church.
While achieving great success in nursing, "family" was Terri's true dream. Doug and Terri's children, Jared and Kaylee, were the center of their world. Terri's nurturing spirit extended to her role as a cherished “Lolli” to three adored grandchildren.
A lover of travel and the outdoors, Terri found joy in exploring by car, motorhome, motorcycle, and boat. Springtime, her favorite season, saw her tending to nurseries, cultivating a deep love for planting.
A dedicated warrior for her family, Terri faced her most challenging battle three years ago. To say she lost would be inaccurate—Terri never ceased fighting, teaching us resilience and perseverance. Her strength remains unmatched.
Terri is survived by her three grandchildren, Pippa & Beckah Speer and Tate Ring; children, Jared Speer (Rachel) of Albuquerque NM and Kaylee Speer Ring (Brantlon) of Oklahoma City, OK; and her devoted husband, Doug Speer.
Her siblings, Debra & Richard Ebel and Scott & Tammy Leflett; and three sisters-in-law, Dana & David Taylor, Donita & Val Crane, and Debra & Paul Moesinger. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bill & Gloria Leflett; and in-laws, Bob & Vera Speer.
To her daughter, Terri leaves a legacy of motherhood; to her son, resilience in facing adversity; to her husband, undying love, two beautiful children, and three grandchildren. Terri's memory lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by her warmth and strength.
