Valerie Ann Bennett

Valerie Ann ‘Babe #1’ Bennett, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 71 in Oklahoma City. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 25, 2024. A repass will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the VFW Post 4876 in Altus. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Valerie Ann Brooks was born on June 16, 1952, in Utica, New York to Aaron and Clara (Billins) Brooks. She attended and graduated from Thomas R. Proctor in Utica. Not long after high school Valerie and her childhood sweetheart from the age of 14 married. She and her one true love, David Ellis Bennett, Sr., were united in marriage on August 19, 1972, at her sister’s house in Utica. As a young married couple, they resided in numerous cities and counties through David’s service in the United States Air Force. The lovebirds finally landed at Altus Air Force Bace in 1983, where Valerie and David made their home together. Valerie worked as a childcare attendant and social life advisor. She greatly enjoyed attending social events, gatherings with friends and family, and cooking for everyone. She deeply loved her family and always treasured her time with them.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Clara. Those left to honor her memory are her husband of over 58 years, David, Sr.; children, Yolanda and David, Jr.; 10 brothers and sisters; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of Billins, Brooks, Brown, Bennett, Collins, and Boles family members; and many world-wide friends. 

A Celebration of Life will also be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 219 Leah Street, Utica, New York. The repass will begin at 1:30 PM at 160 Grove Place in Utica.
