Valeta Janenne Schien

Valeta Janenne Schien, age 66, of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025. Memorial services are pending for a later date.

Valeta was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on January 11, 1959, to parents George Henry Hubert and Wanda Junie (Swaffar) Norwood. She graduated with her master’s in business administration from Louisiana State University. She lived in many states before making Blair her home in 2014. Valeta joined the US Marine Corps on August 15, 1976, and was discharged on February 23, 1982. She married the love of her life, Jeffrey Todd Schien on October 20, 2001, in Childress, Texas.

Valeta was a family-oriented woman. She spent the majority of her time making memories with her loved ones and friends. She enjoyed spending her free time coloring, sewing and crocheting. If there was ever an item of clothing that needed to be hemmed or even a car seat that needed refurbishing, Valeta would have it looking brand new in no time.

Valeta is preceded by her parents. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jeffrey Schien of their home in Blair; her three children, daughter, Kari Dawn Hightower; and two sons, Lance DeWayne Hubert, and Kurt Randall Hightower; two brothers, James Hubert and Ken Patterson Jr.; three sisters, Julie Turpin, Tina Jones, and Kendra Patterson; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.
