William Turner “Bill” Lee Jr., age 81, resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, in Snyder, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bob Mills officiating. Burial with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Bill was born on May 10, 1942, to William Turner Sr. and Jamie (Aldred) Lee in Statesboro, Georgia. Bill attended and graduated from Statesboro High School with the Class of 1960. Bill served in the United States Air Force which landed him at Altus Air Force Base. While stationed in Altus a local girl caught his eye on the Main Street drag. On July 3, 1970, Bill married Retha “Gayle” McLaughlin in Altus. From this union, two daughters were born, Lindsey and Lauren. Bill and Gayle moved to Alabama when Bill re-enlisted in the Air National Guard. Bill obtained an Associate’s Degree in business administration from Gadsden State Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Jacksonville State University. The family returned to Altus in 1996 where Bill retired from the Air National Guard. He worked as a mechanic at Kay Electric in Altus until his full retirement. Bill served as a Deacon at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ (formerly the Thomas Street Church of Christ) from 1999 to 2021 and served as their Director of the Food Room from 2008 to 2021. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, volunteering in the church food room, and attending his grandson’s many sporting events. Bill without a doubt was mechanically inclined and was known to be able to fix anything.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gayle; and parents, William and Jamie. He is survived by his daughters, Lindsey Reeves and husband, Johnathon and Lauren Westervelt and husband, David; his grandchildren that lovingly referred to Bill as “Poppy”, Kaeden Westervelt, Kameron Westervelt, and Xander Reeves; brothers, John and wife, Malvina of Tampa, Florida and Don and wife, Teresa of Statesboro, Georgia; and many friends.

The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Bill’s name to the Tamarack Road Church of Christ – Food Room, 1000 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, Oklahoma 73521.
